Collect for this Sunday

O God, you invite the humble and the sinful to take their place in the festive assembly of the new covenant: teach your Church always to honour the presence of the Lord in the poor and the outcast, so that we may learn to recognise each other as brothers and sisters gathered together around your table. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Notices for this week

Health and Safety Notice- If you feel you may be contagious with cold and flu symptoms, please refrain from attending church activities. All parishioners and encouraged to maintain good hygiene practices and respect others personal space

ALERT! : Car Park Safety! As a community, we need to be mindful of the increase in the number of electric and hybrid vehicles, leading to an increased risk of accidents occurring due to the lack of engine noise. When cars are backing out, drivers should be mindful to check for cross traffic behind them, meaning pedestrians as well as other vehicles. It has been brought to our attention that EV and Hybrid vehicles are silent, and due diligence should be observed by both drivers and pedestrians to avoid any unforeseen accidents

A note from Di: A huge thank you to everyone who has already placed their name on the Volunteer List in the Narthex. We are still looking for bakery items, confectionery, jams, and craft makers. These items are always our biggest sellers. We are selling Devonshire Teas this year. If you are a skilled scone maker, please contact Marjorie Voss.
Remember to keep donations at home until we finalise the date that items can be delivered to Cooinda. Suggestions for donations also include plants, Manchester-related accessories (such as shoes, bags, belts, scarves, etc.), jewellery, craft and décor items, kitchenware, prints, bric-a-brac, tools, pet items, toys, and games. I know people may have these items, but please refrain from donating clothing, books, CDs/DVDs, electrical items, or large furniture pieces. Thank you.

Further news on St. Peter’s Jumble Sale
If you are wanting to donate ingredients for scone making, now is the time to talk to Marjorie Voss, as we only have a couple of weeks for our bakers to collect/prepare ingredients and to bake.
Dates for noting:
We will be accepting all saleable donations from Friday, 19 Sep at Cooinda.  Rhonda will be there to greet you from 11am.
If you need help in transporting your items to Cooinda, please contact Di or Rhonda to make suitable arrangements for collection.
Some able-bodied people are needed to help set up wooden tables from 11am Friday, 19 September at Cooinda to allow our sorters/pricers to prepare the goods for sale. Help is also needed with setting up of tents, card tables and chairs, and the portable BBQ in the outside area on Saturday, 20 September from 6.30-7.00am. Likewise, we will need assistance at 1pm following the Sale to help with clearing up, especially the outside area.
Meanwhile, keep clearing out those cupboards, baking or making items.

All queries to Di Thatcher 0409 846471 or Rhonda Mackenzie-Mowle 0428473 438.

Attention Craft Makers!!: If you are interested in providing any ideas for saleable craft to be included in future Church stalls, please bring a sample of your “craft/idea” to our next meeting. We will tentatively book our “Show and Tell” meeting, to be held on the first Monday of each month at 10am at a “to be advised coffee shop” Our aim is to have an “always ready” stockpile of craft for our next Church Stall or Jumble Sale.  Most importantly, enjoying fellowship together. Please contact Sue on 0416 339 972 if you have any queries or would like to attend”

Some feedback on Cursillo 83 from Reverend Marilyn:
The weekend was a true blessing to all who attended Cursillo 83 from a wide number of parishes throughout the Diocese. Luther Heights Coolum is in a magnificent position overlooking the Blue Pacific at sunrise with whales playing below. The theme, Grace because He lives, was flowing through all the grateful candidates and team.
I am sure Mary Wilson from our parish will share her joy and thanks for all our prayers and blessings she received.
Reverend Marilyn

A note from our BCA contact :
SEPTEMBER is box opening month, and we would appreciate all BCA donation boxes be returned to the Narthex as soon as possible so they can be opened and counted for BCA collection

An Update:
Tafadzwa, the student we support, is doing his Master's degree in Metallurgy at the University of Zimbabwe. He is completing his year long work experience at a large gold mine and is well regarded by his supervisors. I pray we will have enough funding for him to do his final year in 2026, as he is doing so well. We are also financing 2 school children through private schools, as the government schools' standards are abysmal. Again, we pray for sponsors next year.
We continue with our goal of "Helping the Poorest of the Poor gain Dignity through Self-Sufficiency."

Your Help with this is much appreciated
Tim Dufton
